Mayor Latasha Johnson was sworn into office for her first term in November 2020. She is the second female African American mayor in the history of Eutaw. She is the third African American mayor in Eutaw’s history. Mayor Johnson works as a nurse and maintains regular office hours at City Hall. 

Mayor Johnson’s accomplishments during her first term in office include:

  • Clearing the IRS Lien on City Property
  • Bringing the water system into profitability and compliance
  • Passing a Budget (each year)
  • Providing audited financial statements
  • Securing Grant Funding for City Departments
  • Largest Budget and Surplus in City History

City Council Members

The City of Eutaw has 5 council districtsCouncil Members are elected to four-year terms in the general municipal election. Each council district elects its own councilperson.

The Council elects a member to serve as the Mayor Pro-Tem. The Mayor Pro-Tem leads the council meeting in the mayor’s absence.

Administrative Officials

The City Clerk is appointed by the City Council and is the custodian of records for the city.

The City Clerk’s Office is also responsible for

  • Issuing Privilege Licenses
  • Maintaining Bank Accounts and Financial Records
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for the City
  • Payroll and Benefits for City Employees
  • Cemetery Plots and Records
  • Management of City Owned Property Rentals
  • Meetings and Minutes for City Council Meetings
